ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
Pilipinx Academic Student Services is an entirely student-run organization formed in 1985 to address the educational concerns of Pilipinx students in pursuit of higher education. PASS attempts to remedy the lack of representation among the University's student population with respect to the growing Pilipinx population of California.
PROJECTS
WORKSHOP:
Created, led, designed, and launched a bi-weekly political and social workshop series to amplify a more complex, diverse, and intersectional understanding of Filipino/Filipino-American identities, histories, contemporary issues, and lived experiences.
SCHOLARSHIP:
Reshaped the scholarship and secured more funding for undocumented students by utilizing qualitative evaluation methods for a more holistic and equitable application review.
COMMUNITY LIBRARY:
Redesigned the community library space by adding more diverse books in geography, lived experience, and politics to cultivate a sense of wellness among the student organizers occupying the community work space.
